“of course that’s how it begins, a harmless fairy tale to pass the hours”

Before you go to the Hopping Pot Cafe, let me tell you about this little presentation.

Early this year, I viewed the photos and video from the (Peter and Alice) play and became enthralled and inspired by legendary actress Dame Judi Dench and the brilliant actor Ben Whishaw. Hence, you see the willful and humble pages brought before you by yours truly. There are three in total.

The first one is at Ink Spots Entertainment.

The third doorway to the (Peter and Alice) wonderland you will find at, The Hopping Pot Cafe.

Perhaps, one day I will get the opportunity to see a play in London.  Now, for the play and the stars who grace the stage at the Noel Coward Theater.

Judi Dench plays Alice, and Ben Whishaw plays Peter. This was ‘Skyfall’s writer John Logan’s first new play since Red, which went on to win six Tony Awards in 2010.

A trailer for the five-star critically acclaimed production of PETER AND ALICE, directed by Michael Grandage.  By the way, here is the original photo with Judi and Ben on stage.  The play has ended its run but the magic is still in the air. Also, check out the works of artist Marion Rose and Aimee Stewart on this page. I merged the “Alice in Wonderland” poster by Aimee Stewart with the book cover and added the title. Her poster is awesome. As for the poster, I created for Ink Spots Entertainment, it all started with this magazine photo sent to me by one of Ben Whishaw’s fans. And I don’t want to forget to mention, artist Leonid Afremov, his painting featured as a background for the Hopping Pot tumblr blog.

Overview

When Alice Liddell Hargreaves met Peter Llewelyn Davies at the opening of a Lewis Carroll exhibition in 1932, the original Alice in Wonderland came face to face with the original Peter Pan. In John Logan’s new play, enchantment and reality collide as this brief encounter lays bare the lives of these two extraordinary characters.

Of course, I can’t let you go without sharing information about Alice In Wonderland and Peter Pan books. Two wonderful stories that are  popular with adults as well as with children.

First, (Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll.

Overview From Amazon

Lewis Carroll (1832-1898), the pen name of Oxford mathematician, logician, photographer and author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, is famous the world over for his fantastic classics “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” “Through the Looking Glass,” “The Hunting of the Snark,” “Jabberwocky,” and “Sylvie and Bruno.”

Annotated Alice

In 1862 Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a shy Oxford mathematician with a stammer, created a story about a little girl tumbling down a rabbit hole. Thus began the immortal adventures of Alice, perhaps the most popular heroine in English literature. Countless scholars have tried to define the charm of the Alice books–with those wonderfully eccentric characters the Queen of Hearts, Tweedledum, and Tweedledee, the Cheshire Cat, Mock Turtle, the Mad Hatter et al.–by proclaiming that they really comprise a satire on language, a political allegory, a parody of Victorian children’s literature, even a reflection of contemporary ecclesiastical history. Perhaps, as Dodgson might have said, Alice is no more than a dream, a fairy tale about the trials and tribulations of growing up–or down, or all turned round–as seen through the expert eyes of a child.

Second, (Peter Pan) is a character created by novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie. Peter Pan first appeared inside “The Little White Bird”,  a 1902 novel written by Barrie for adults.

Overview From Amazon

Barrie was a dramatist, best known for writing Peter Pan or The Boy Who Would Never Grow Up. He moved to London to pursue his interest in becoming a playwright. There he met the Llewelyn Davies boys who inspired his masterpiece. Based on Barrie’s enchanting characters, Disney created the animated classic, Peter Pan, in 1953.

Annotated Peter Pan

Peter Pan, J. M. Barrie’s most famous work, in the form of a 1904 play and a 1911 novel, respectively. Both versions tell the story of Peter Pan, a mischievous little boy who can fly, and his adventures on the island of Neverland with Wendy Darling and her brothers, the fairy Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, the Indian princess Tiger Lily, and the pirate Captain Hook. The play and novel were inspired by Barrie’s friendship with the Llewelyn Davies family. Barrie continued to revise the play for years after its debut; the novel reflects one version of the story.
